Aussie telco broadband speeds compared in CHOICE review

If you’ve been wanting to take up the advice of NBN director Michael Malone that you should see what other peoples’ experience is like before choosing a provider on the NBN, you’ve been left a little wanting.

That’s because the Australian consumer watchdog’s $6.5 million Measuring Broadband Australia program, which is to measure up to 4000 homes, has been delayed for some time now. As recently as last week, it was revealed that only 400 homes would initially be monitored and reported on.

Thankfully, the good people at Australian consumer group CHOICE have now launched their own comparison service, called the Broadband Performance Measuring program, a collaboration with eMetric and their sister company Enex TestLab.
